Summoners War Fusion progression became the focus of last week’s gameplay.  Inevitably it did not start out that way via the weeks planning, however I had three twelve hour double experience boosters I needed to use up.  I sort of ended up landing on working towards fusing a new monster for my team out of chance, to some degree.

Theme

Fusion lessons learned was the theme for last week.  Despite previously fusing Veromos a while back there were a lot of things I forgot about when it comes to fusing a new monster.  It is also because of those shortcomings I was not able to quit get there, and receive the new monster.  I definitely should have re-watched my own video.

Veromos Fusion Guide

Like I mentioned earlier I had three double experience boosters to boot.  It was because of these I just happened to take a look at my Fusion Monster tree to see if I was close to anything.  It so happened that I had everything for the water phoenix Sigmarus.  It was because of this I spent all of last week working towards Sig.

First off, one thing I do is when I get fusion material monsters I typically lock them.  Then during times when I have boosters I tend to try to get them to four stars and maxed for a couple of reasons.  One, at four stars they can help you with the World Boss, which I have been able to get three attacks in daily now for quite some time.  Next, you can do exactly what I did by checking your fusion chart every so often and see how close you are to fusing a new monster.  This strategy helps reduce time, and pain of the fusion process if you keep it in the back of your mind like me.

Fusion Lessons Learned

There are a few things I briefly want to mention to help you in your Fusion preparation mind state.  Mainly a few things I forgot, and why the Fusion process can be rough.  The process itself is very resource draining, because you could supplement all the mats used to awaken monsters you plan to keep, and even get to a six star monster much faster.  As the process takes four five star monsters in fusion to get a one five star monster.  Ideally you are trading up in monster power though, but it can be a significant shift in the short term by losing things like fodder, mats, and potentially 13 monsters to help with the world boss.

When starting out your fusion process make sure you have enough mana.  Often people, including myself forget that it is quite a bit of mana to fuse monsters.  Luckily as mentioned I had double experience boosters so I could offset my low mana by grinding Faimon Hell, and Hydeni as I was leveling up the monsters needed to obtain Sigmarus.

Honestly, it wasn’t even the leveling that bothered me as I was planning on doing it for three days anyway.  The problem came when I needed the awakening materials.  I forgot how much it took, and I was severally short on regular Magic Essence.  I was missing roughly 60 mid-level awakening materials.  This took me another day and a half to collect, and I eventually paid to change some of my mats into the mid-level magic essence.

Then after that grind I realized that I would need to do it again, since that was just for all the base monsters for Sigmarus.  One nice thing was that I timed it well with an all elemental dungeon weekend so it made it relatively easy to spend my weekend collecting the rest of the materials.

One thing I also want to point out, and a major mistake on my part is make sure you also start the fusion process a day after the free rune removal day.  As there were some runes I still wanted to keep, and it was fairly expensive to remove them, on top of that it was a pretty noob mistake on my end.  Just another point I wanted to pass along in case you are thinking about fusing a new monster like me.

In the end I did not get Sigmarus fused, but I am hoping to complete him in the coming week.  I am excited to have Sig in my team, and at the very least a relatively stronger monster then the materials I put into him.

Rune Update

I didn’t run a lot of B10s this week, but am updating with stuff from the previous week as well.  Going forward runs are after update V3.2.1

Giant B10 Run Count: 82

Dragon B10 Run Count: 218

The_Stand Guild Wars

This week was a bad performance for us going 0-10.  Despite losing every attack, we did win every defensive battle going 10-0.  We did not have good participation, but we picked up a new player who we are hoping will be able to start contributing very soon.  Overall, it was even a slight improvement over last week.

Summary

I made some good Summoners War fusion progress this week on the water phoenix Sigmarus.  I will hopefully have an awesome new monster added to my collection in the coming week.  I hope some of my fusion pointers and lessons learned will help you in your own fusion progression.  Until next week summoners, keep on summoning.

Summoners War a Week in Review (1/16/17 to 1/22/17)

Remember to subscribe to the weekly blog with your email, and the youtube channel for videos.

This week was a focus on Summoners War Giants B10 Drop Rates.  Essentially, I probably spent a majority of the week compiling all the data from the runs pre update v3.2.1.  On top of that I held a summoning session, and got myself a new Ifrit!

Theme

Analytics was the name of the game last week! The theme of this week’s blog is Summoners War decision making via analytics.  Early in the week I held a “Chasing Trophy Monsters” summoning session.  In those summoning sessions I typically purchase premium packs, then do the summoning.  This helps for multiple things with account growth.  It’s a great source of fodder, which I spent four days last week grinding experience.  The potential monster diversity as well is always a good benefit along with a chance at a game changing monster.  However, I don’t go into the sessions expecting a killer summon.  In fact, in all summoning sessions I have summoned one nat5 monster.

Chasing Trophy Monsters

In the session if you watched the video you will see as mentioned above I typically purchase the premium packs, but in this particular session I held back.  I wanted to analyze my data on mystical scroll drops of Giants B10 before making the purchases, and found some interesting numbers.

Giants B10 Drop Rates

What I find in the video is that in my opinion vs. farming giants for mystical scrolls you are better off using your crystals to purchase the mystical scrolls via premium packs.  Noticeably, this created quite a stir in the community, because current belief is you should do one of two things:

  • Never buy Premium Packs
  • Use crystals to refresh magic shop and purchase Mystical Scrolls with excess crystals

In reality my personal opinion of the two is this:

  • You should buy premium packs, but not for the necessary intent of expecting godly summons, but rather for monster diversity
  • There are trade offs with the shop, and its not even a mid-game strategy in my opinion but more for a 1-5 percenter in Summoners War

I will definitely say this though, if you look at it from a broader strategy of acquiring legendary scroll pieces, potential runes, and other items you should definitely not purchase premium packs.  It’s important to point out there was a very nicely written opinion around Magic Shop Refreshes this week with data from swarfarm.com (Which I am not a contributor to currently or have been asked to speak on their behalf).  The collective effort for aggregated data collection happening for us will immediately impact our further understanding of Summoners War.  The one caveat is like always data can be misinterpreted or misconstrued at times, and that is one issue with publishing open data.

Additionally, I hope to do additional analysis on the Magic Shop myself to present some arguments to the community.  However, as noted I still am in the midsts of processing a lot of data, and collecting additional data.  On top of that I can’t forget to keep up with the Joneses by actually playing and enjoying the game!

Rune Update

I did not make big strides in the Rune Update section this week.

Final Giant B10 Run Count: 797* Corrected for bad data

Final Dragon B10 Run Count: 227

Experience Grinding

I was able to take Fire Ifrit Tesarion from his 5 star Summon to 6 stars.  Then I was able to level him to 36.  I spent the majority of the week focused on experience grinding.

Secret Dungeon Event Water Charger Shark

I was really hoping to spend more time on the event over the week primarily to skill up my current Water Charger Shark.  Alas, I was only able to collect 214 pieces.

World Boss

Wasn’t able to maintain C2, fell to C1 for the week.

Level 15 Runes

I leveled two runes to 15 for the week.

Summary

This was a big week outside the game, and more Summoners War Community focused for me.  I really think the data crunching will help provide the Summoners War Giants B10 Drop Rates viewpoint from a solo source to help further constructive conversations.  I am excited about my new Ifrit, and hope to try him out more in the coming weeks.  Until next week summoners, keep on summoning.

Summoners War a Week in Review (1/9/17 to 1/15/17)

Summoners War a Week in Review (1/9/17 to 1/15/17)

This was the first full week into the new year of 2017 in Summoners War, and a lot went down! Not only did Com2Us change up the Cairos Dungeon Drops, they switched up Hall of Heroes with update v3.2.1.  This week I accomplished an impressive Summoners War Milestone.  Summoners War Trial of Ascension Normal Stage 100 is no small feat.

Theme

This week’s theme is knocking out of the park! Do you ever get so happy or nervous that you are going to screw something up and get the shakes?  Or you experience something for the first time that is sort of surreal and you think you are in the wrong place? Well that is sort of how I felt this week getting to Trial of Ascension Stage 100.

First time Beating Trial of Ascension Stage 100

If you have been adamantly reading my weekly blogs you will also understand why this is such a big deal to me.  Previously the highest I was able to ascend Summoners War Trial of Ascension Normal was Stage 78.  Completing all 100 was a huge improvement relative to my last performance.  I was even able to up my TOA Hard to Stage 49 from 36.  As probably already noted I was severely happy to complete this and reach a new milestone in Summoners War.

What was different?

Honestly, the biggest improvement I believe in my TOAN team was the runes.  As mentioned the previous week, and I believe I mention it in the video, I was able to make really good use of the Free Rune Removal day.  I swapped out like 7 runes to 6 star on my main monsters.  Then going into TOAN I had them all upgraded to level 12 or better.

The other piece of this was I really worked on rotating my monsters around.  I was able to auto to TOAN Stage 75, and TOAH 33.  Once I hit the walls, I started working with my team, and paying attention to the stage battles.  I would jump in at times when I needed to target specific monsters.

There was no special monster that was summoned from my last TOAN attempt.  Also, I didn’t use any new six star monsters in TOAN either.  The one thing I do like about this is it helps show the scalability of the game where if you put in your time and effort you can reach new heights in Summoners War.  The pay off is great too, because now I should hopefully be able to get a new legendary scroll every 30 days with my team.

Trial of Ascension Strategy

I will definitely say I don’t think my strategy is or was as typical of what summoners probably do.  In my case you see I am very heavily heal based.  I went for big health, big heals, and chip damage.  The strategy obviously ended up paying off for me as I was able to complete Stage 100.

Team: Veromos (Leader), Theomars, Belladeon, Iona, Chasun

Like I said above, I was extremely nervous once I hit TOAN Stage 100.  I was worried I was going to get there and fail miserably.  My crew was able to best Stage 100 on the second try.  I definitely recommend not going straight to the face on the final boss, and taking the crystals out first.  Unlike me, you may be able to beat him on the first attempt.

Update v3.2.1

Hall of Heroes Wind Pirate

I really enjoy the new Hall of Heroes update for a few different reasons.  First and foremost I was able to get more pieces in the update then I could grinding all weekend.  The second is instead of grinding Hall of Heroes all weekend I was able to work on other Summoners War things.  I felt like I was winning all around! I was able to get to level 6, tried multiple times, but the monsters at 5/6 with the rezzing and damage I couldn’t best.

Rune Drop Update

A few weeks ago Com2Us said in their developers notes they were changing the Rune Drops in Cairos Dungeon.  To make a long story short they have removed four star runes from Dungeon Floor 10 runs.  This is a big deal as it should improve the runes you get on the runs ideally allowing you to get your monsters to where you want them faster.

The other thing they mentioned was that the drop rates would remain the same.  This is something I am curious about, because were 5 & 6 star runes actually dropped at the same rate?  I don’t think so, and if not how does this effect things going forward?  I’ve decided to continue my previous experiment prior to update v3.2.1 to test this out.

Rune Update

The Summoners War Update v3.2.1 put a halt on the drop rate percents, as I was trying to get to at least 1000 runs before tallying anything.  However, I have already started to pull together the data to see where we get.  I have also as mentioned above began efforts on the next data set for comparison.

Final Giant B10 Run Count: 813

Final Dragon B10 Run Count: 227

V3.2.1 Giant B10 Run Count: 19

V3.2.1 Dragon B10 Run Count: 86

Summary

All I can say is incredible.  Last week was such an action packed week of Summoners War.  I am very happy of the completion of Trial of Ascension Stage 100 and the Summoners War Milestone I was able to achieve.  I think Com2Us implemented a lot of great changes with update v3.2.1.  Until next week summoners keep on summoning!

Summoners War a Week in Review (1/2/17 to 1/8/17)

Summoners War a Week in Review (1/2/17 to 1/8/17)

Summoners War progression success definitely happened last week. The past Summoners War week was deceivingly successful in my opinion.  The majority of the progress stemmed from all the randomness of the weeks gameplay.  However, it can definitely be measured in my mind from the free rune removal day quantitatively.  The progress also includes Rift Raid runs, Wind Battle Mammoth Secret Dungeon, and of course the rune runs for the week.  On another note it was a complete turnaround in Guild Wars for the week with quite a twist.

Theme

This week I embarked on a random journey that led to a lot of in game progress for my Summoners War account, and it is for that reason of the back bone of last week, I will go with the theme of success.  It really was a big turnaround in Summoners War performance on many levels this week. The biggest thing I would say collectively was The_Stand guilds performance.

Last week The_Stand failed miserably.  This week I reworked the teams, cut the attacking and defending members down to 10 total from 13 the previous week.  Surprisingly this made all the difference, and in one area I was not really paying much attention to.  You are definitely aloud to laugh at this piece as well, we made C1 for the first time as a guild. Now that might not be the funny part, but this certainly is…We did it with a losing attacking record…Yeah, that is right we went 3-7, and didn’t fight two matches unfortunately.

At this point you are probably either still laughing or scratching your head.  What was this special factor allowing us to make C1 for the first time as a guild? Well, here is something to think about, that a lot of times we forget about in Guild Wars.  I will put it plain and simple “Defense”.  Yeah, we ended up going 9-0 in our defense for the week.  We climbed from the bottomless pit where we were sitting last week, all because of our defense.  With that said, I am going to pay a lot more attention to this in the future.  On top of that, we do not set easy defense anyway, so I was extremely happy to see this turnaround for the week.

Another item of focus this week for me was inspired by a fellow guild mate Wargod.  War was looking for some Rift Raid help, so before having the opportunity to sync up, I pushed my monsters to the max to see if I could clear some new levels.

Rift Raid Level 2

Rift Raid Level 3

For not really doing my Rift Raiding, as you all know from my previous posts this was also very successful.  On top of that I was able to develop a decent carry team that can be seen in the videos for Rift Raid Level 1, to help out my guild mate Wargod.  We ended up syncing up and running raids about 10 times before Wargod accidently fell asleep. It was pretty funny.

Another big achievement for the week was paired with GB10 & DB10 runs along with the weekend event Free Rune Removal Day.  On Wednesday I decided to really push my rune hunting to prep for the weekend event.  Stuff really paid off last week for me because I was able to swap out seven five star runes for six star, and then spent around 1.5 million mana leveling those to twelve for the time being.  This was a huge improvement for all my main monsters, which were primarily my six star ones.  I am very excited to see how things go, and already have noticed some efficiency and speed improvements with the rune upgrades.

One of the other big pieces for the week was again the weekend event.  This time it was the Wind Battle Mammoth Secret Dungeon.

I was able to get over 400+ Wind Battle Mammoth pieces during the event over the weekend.  My goal was to get 400 which I was able to surpass.  I set this goal for two reasons.  First, of which was if I happen to summon Dark Battle Mammoth Basalt, I can skill him up.  The next has been from previous monster leveling experience.  I have typically ran into bottle necks by not having enough fodder and the event was able to help me add some fuel to the fodder fire.  A lot of people also use Water Battle Mammoth, and it is because of all these reason I decided to push the Wind Battle Mammoth Secret Dungeon over the weekend.

Rune Update

Giants B10 and Dragons B10 runs were definitely a focus last week for Free Rune Removal day.  Strong progress was made, and I am closing in on the one thousand mark for Giants.  Hopefully, I can get it done before the drop rate adjustment, but we will see.

Summary

The past week of Summoners War was an exciting one, with a lot of progress made on multiple fronts.  I was extremely pleased with The_Stand Guild War results this week, and hope we can win more attacking battles in the future.  I was so happy I was able to upgrade so many monsters with rune improvements with the FRR event, and glad I was able to help Wargod along with improving my own Rift Raiding for the week.  Until next time Summoners, keep on summoning.

Summoners War a Week in Review (12/26/16 to 1/1/17)

Remember to subscribe to the weekly blog with your email, and the youtube channel for videos.

First off Happy New Year Summoners! I hope everyone was able to ring in the Summoners War New Year in style!  In reality I hope everyone had a safe and Happy New Year’s around the globe. To be frank this week there wasn’t much happening aside from the general grind of the game, and some guild short comings this week.  It wasn’t the start to the Summoners War New Year I was hoping for over the past week, but it has left some room for improvement.

Theme

It is because of those short comings the theme for this week is going to be focused on failing and what can be done to improve upon those issues.  The two major pieces that were a struggle was the Summoners War Special Christmas Stockings Event, and this week’s Guild Wars.  Everything just did not come together for me, and the guild this week unfortunately.

In the case of the Summoners War Special Christmas Stockings Event I fell extremely short of completing the event.  I also feel a little short changed, and I will explain in a minute.

Summoners War Special Christmas Stockings Event

If you watch the above video you will probably see why.  After 14 days of the event I was able only to get 33 stockings! I fell short of completing the event by 67, let along I wasn’t able to get what I really wanted which was the Devilmon.  This was definitely frustrating as I haven’t fallen this short in completing an event in a very very long time.  However, I am more frustrated that in my opinion it was definitely not the lack of gameplay.

This is primarily due to the face I was able to roughly run Giants B10 almost 250 times in the week! On top of spending a day using an experience boost.  My theory, which I did not test specifically was that running Faimon Hell yielded a better drop rate then GB10.  Even if we do the math on the 33 stockings vs the 250 GB10 runs it puts us at a 13% drop rate.  Now I know that’s not the rate as some of the stockings were collected in the previous week, and were collected from farming Faimon Hell.

With the above said I believe the drop rate is probably 5% or less.  Like all good Summoners War players we love to know our stats, and odds! Luckily, I have been taking screenshots every single GB10 and DB10 run for statistical drop rates.  I went back through the data, and here is what I found the drop rate to be for GB10.  I ran GB10 roughly 250 times this past week (I used the last 250 screenshots, so some from last week for calculations).  I only had nine screenshots of stockings!

This gives us the values of 9/250, and the odds of getting a stocking from GB10 3.6%.  In essence to collect all 100 stockings from GB10 based off the given information we would need to run GB10 roughly 2,800 (2,777) times to complete the event.  Now, you can probably argue that 250 runs may not be statistically significant, but it definitely gives us a good idea of the rate drops of special event items like the stockings.

As previously mentioned it wasn’t quit the lack of gameplay, as I know increased my GB10 overall rune runs by almost a third, it was more the fact of how much more I needed to play! Granted, as special the Summoners War Special Christmas Stockings Event was and the rewards it was most justified in my opinion.  Games and events like this are made for us to work for good rewards, and the effort is well rewarded.  I think overall that a roughly 4% drop rate for special items like stockings is fairly justified based off the rewards even though as mentioned I am frustrated for not being able to complete the event.

Rune Update

Giants B10 runs was a big focus last week.  It was extremely helpful in calculating stocking drops for the Summoners War Special Christmas Stockings Event.  In fact as mentioned above I was able to complete roughly 250 runs!

Giant B10 Run Count: 627

Dragon B10 Run Count: 176

The_Stand Guild Wars

This was the worst week in The_Stand finishing 0 – 11 for the week.  Honestly, I don’t quit know what happened here, and there is only room to go up at this point.  I will readjust the attackers for the week.  I literally felt at one point I do not know how we can fall any further, but that was not the case.  This week I know was definitely not typical as you all know from previous posts, but it was definitely the worst.

GamertagMythras PvP

This was a good week of PvP for me aside from the Guilds failures.  I was able to finish F1 with a rating of 1291.  This was just shy of my highest PvP performance from two weeks ago.

Notable Mentions

World Boss

I maintained my G1 status for the World Boss for the Week.

Glory Sop Building Upgrades

I advanced multiple buildings this week after weeks of PvP.

After & Before pictures of buildings.

Secret Dungeons

I finished off a few secret dungeons I did not have all the pieces for this week.  I got all 40 pieces of the Dark Bearman, and collected 40 pieces for the Water Mystical Archer.  The Water Mystical Archer is the last monster I need to complete to fuse Baretta.  Completing monsters from the secret dungeons was significantly helped from the all element dungeon event over the weekend.

Summary

The Summoners War New Year definitely had its struggles for my guild and myself.  However, reflecting on the week there were hints of progress, and a decent contribution I hope to the community around special event drop rates like the stockings of the Summoners War Special Christmas Stockings Event.  I have a lot to improve on next week, and until then keep on summoning summoners.
